I am putting together a Costume Donation Station at the Soma Village theme camp at Dreamtime this summer. On behalf of Living Earth, thank you to all who have registered for Beltania and are supporting our event. With well over 300 registrations already processed, and more coming in daily, we are very excited about the interest in our upcoming festival!

PRE-REGISTRATION ENDS APRIL 30TH!
If you haven’t purchased your tickets yet, I encourage you to do so before our pre-registration period ends on April 30th. Take advantage of discount tickets and avoid lines at the festival by registering online, or in person at Herbs & Arts or Spirit Wise stores today. Weekend passes are only $45, Saturday passes only $20. After April 30th, tickets will only be available at the festival for an additional $5 each.

We are happy to announce an 8th band has been added to our concert lineup! Skean Dubh is one of the most enjoyable Celtic bands in the Rocky Mountain Region. They will begin playing Saturday afternoon right after the Maypole Ritual and during the maypole dance.

Being certain is stupid, whereas exercising doubt and critical thinking is more intelligent. Agnosticism is simply about being skeptical. Skeptical Atheists are welcome, and we ask that all people be considerate and polite when posting. Labels matter little, it's what's going on between the ears that counts.

True skeptics are skeptical of skeptics, skepticism, and him/herself.

Admitting that you may be wrong shows strength of character. We're only human. The only people who don't make mistakes aren't doing anything at all.

Agnostics may have suspicions about social/scientific/spiritual concepts having more or less validity, but our trick is discussing such topics without an emotional investment in any particular outcome.

So, with an open mind, a warm heart, and a colorful sense of humor, we extend our invitation to anyone inclined towards the Agnostic point of view.

Rocky Mountain Didgeridoo Festival August 21-23, Crestone, CO

It looks like we have a festival ground & firm date for a weekend Rocky Mountain didgeridoo festival. The inspiring Dream Weaver Sanctuary is several acres in the Crestone area, at the foot of the glorious Sangre de Christo Mountains in southern Colorado. This is a new location about 35 miles from Joy’s place.

It is a green site so we compost and recycle everything. There will be potlucks and the End of the Road Café will be serving up yummy coffee and maté treats, and with everyone’s help can be a communal kitchen. This will be a self-sufficient camping event, be prepared for afternoon thunderstorms. Lodging is available nearby in the town of Crestone. It’s hoped that each person can do an hour or two of volunteer work a day, and it looks like we’ll be able to offer work trade & sliding scale.

The date for the festival is August 21-23 … this is one week after California’s Jammin’ Tree festival and two weeks after both the Crestone Music Festival and In-didj-in-us in Oregon. Ondrej Smeykal sounded excited about playing in Crestone, and other international artists will likely perform. They will need to travel great distances, so support them with your generous donation.

The hope is to draw audience and performers from around the region, and showcase mountain-state talent. There’s enthusiastic didj communities in Santa Fe and Albuquerque, and a well-organized bunch in Colorado Springs as well. There are a number of players and makers here in the San Luis Valley as well. Everyone is invited to play, either in a performance slot, open mic, ceremony, or sound healing. The End of the Road Café will be a small, intimate venue for acoustic performances and open mic… so volunteer to be a barista! Everyone is also encouraged to set up a booth to show their wares, or offer instruments informally by leaning them up against a tree. Anyone may offer a workshop.

Volunteers can work on festival coordination, publicity, booking acts, being an act, setting up the physical site, website, fund raising, you name it. Remember… it is YOUR festival, be a leader!

There will be a one-day potluck fund raising & planning event at north of Denver in Dacono Saturday June 6, the same date & place as last year’s event. If you remember It’ll be a great place to jam and have a blast!

This has been an amazing year for the Kan'Nalitos. From Africa to Australia, from India to South America, Mexico to Thailand, in deserts, beaches, mountains, forests, temples, urban jungles, offering ceremony at Machu Pichu, cleaning up trash in the Carribean, witnessing the majesty Victoria Falls, swimming with sharks, writing songs, producing albums, touring, growing food, building community, moving to Europe, starting families, performing in a wide variety of musical and theatrical projects, Kan'Nal continues to explore the world seeking avenues for collaboration and artistic self-expression. A juried exhibition of dream-related works will be displayed at the Wyndham O'hare Hotel in conjunction with the 26th annual conference of the International Association for the Study of Dreams (IASD), held Friday June 26th through Tuesday June 30, 2009. There will be an exhibition during the conference.

Eligibility: Original artwork about or inspired by dreams created by IASD members or artists residing in the Chicago metropolitan area.

World Circus 2010 in Geneva

The Swiss have declared that 2010 is the year of Circus and have invited
the whole world to come to Geneva- want to join me?

I've been kicking this idea around for a few months now, but last
week I was in Boulder for a few days, and it really sunk in that this
pipe dream could come to life very easily. The basic
idea is to combine all of us into one wonderful hodge podge of a troupe
that will have some presence in Geneva for a season or so, but at any
given time there will only have to be a small handfull of us present and
performing.

From past experience I think we can all play nicely together and put on
an amazing street show, the only thing we need to do is put together a decent
looking DVD and get a rough estimate of how many people are seriously
interested. If it turns out there are a ton of us, or someone whats to
step things up a bit and work on some type of choreography,
music, props etc, I'm totally game, but at the same time simplicity seems
like a nice thing.

I know how much time we normally put into our conclave
performance pieces- and the fact that many of us live who knows where...
That said, I've got an amazing opera singer from Boulder whos interested
in coming along for the ride, and I might also have a few leads on an accordian player or two..

The submission deadline is just a few weeks away, but if
everyone who's interested sends me a quick bio/history of their
performing life, and any video clips of you or a group of us I'll take
care of the rest.

So what do you think- is it time to play somewhere new? Oh I almost

Dreamtime has had a very positive lifechanging impact on most of us. For me, the most difficult part of the festival was leaving it. The energy and connection felt during Jen and Eli's speeches and the closing ceremony is somthing I would like to feel every minute of my everyday life. I would also like to take that message out to others that did not have the opportunity to experience what we where givin. As time passes those feelings may disapear because of various distractions. So...........

Would any Dreamers in the Denver/ Boulder area be interested in getting together for a reunion/ celebration/ revival of Dreamtime in the future. This can be somthing we do on a regular basis or every now and then to help keep the spirit of Dreamtime alive!

My Experience of Hysteria, Harassment, and Invasion of Privacy at Dreamtime

My name is Michael. I was at Dreamtime this past weekend. You may have seen me: I was always naked, have a shaved head, and was a massage therapist at the Serenity camp.

It was my third year at Dreamtime. I have always been respectful, followed the rules, and been of service by working at Serenity and giving many, many people quality bodywork without monetary compensation. I have always paid for my Dreamtime tickets—in fact, two tickets this year (the other for a guest, who unfortunately couldn’t make it). I donated food and propane to the Serenity communal kitchen. In summary, I have always been a cooperative, giving, and enthusiastic member of the Dreamtime community.

Unfortunately, an event happened this year which is very disheartening and makes it likely I’ll choose not to return.

First, let me acknowledge that I am one of the few people at Dreamtime who walk around totally naked. However, I have checked and this is permissible according to the organizers. Second, I am a photographer, and at times I take photographs of places or people—always asking permission. My understanding is that this is permissible too. Third, I am naked while I give massage at Serenity. This is clearly acceptable to the Serenity organizers. My clients see that I am naked before they choose to get on my table. I never attempt non-consensual sexual behavior.

On Friday at Serenity camp, I was approached by three Dreamtime officials who demanded to examine my camera. In front of co-workers and clients, they said I was under suspicion of taking a photograph of a woman in the shower. I stated that I took no such photo. Nevertheless, for at least thirty minutes, they viewed every photo on my camera—photos of my home, family, and Dreamtime photos. They suspected there might be more photos hidden on the memory card, and examined the instruction manual to the camera to determine if there could be any hidden photos. They picked up my camera and with their own fingers fiddled and played with buttons trying to find incriminating evidence. Alas, there was no such evidence, because I never took such a photo.

They said that in addition, there was another complaint about me: An observer (not a client) complained that I was doing massage while naked at Serenity. The officials acknowledged that doing massage while naked was not against the rules.

Despite having been exonerated on both counts, the officials still persisted by asking me to find my Dreamtime ticket stub and present it to them for examination. Alas, even my ticket was legitimate, I was guilty of nothing. The officials thanked me for my cooperation and wished me a good weekend.

My complaint is against the woman in the shower who leveled a false accusation, the bystander who apparently felt it was his or her moral duty to put a stop to naked massaging, and the Dreamtime officials who I feel went completely overboard. I was embarrassed, humiliated, and my privacy was invaded. (Even if I had done something wrong—which I had not-- it would have been taking a picture without permission, not murder or rape, for God’s sake.)

It is a sorry day that the same type of post 9-11 suspicion, hysteria, fear, privacy invasions, and excessive surveillance and police powers that are plaguing this country at large have now crept into a supposedly alternative community like Dreamtime. What is happening to innocent people in this country (like those wrongfully on no-fly lists, for example) happened to me at Dreamtime: A couple hysterical participants, a few over-zealous officials—and an innocent person is harassed and intimated.

I stuck around until Saturday afternoon, but the tone had been set--my weekend dampened, and I left early.

So anyway, I’m thinking that maybe I was targeted because of my nudity, or maybe even my age (has Dreamtime “evolved” into a party-camp for twenty-somethings, along with their inhibitions?); that maybe the official tolerance of nudity at Dreamtime is a vestige of more progressive days and ideals; that due to now-fashionable values future Dreamtimes will prohibit nudity (if there are any future Dreamtimes, considering the obviously diminished interest).

Thank you for reading my story. I’m fully expecting a bunch of responses faulting me for something or other and some in support.

Cheri, in her Magical Mystery Muse incarnation, gently guiding us to
create together. To my enormous astonishment, a cello in the hands of
a master can not only fit well into a drum circle, it can sometimes
lead! Brody, thank you for your magic. I feel honored to have been at
your right hand in the circle. To my musical brethren and dancers and
chanters and playful peoples, thank you for a lovely circle, I am so
sorry that exhaustion drove me to leave your most excellent company
far too early. You are beautiful, one and all.

The lovely colorful freaking out sweet kind neighbors near me, I never
did get to talk with you as much as I wished. Save a story for me next
year, please?

Andy and Jane and Monica, you were quite a surprise to me in so many
different ways. Thank you for sharing your hearts, your shade, your
food, your water, and your words. And thank you for letting me be your
Junior Roadie.

The stage manager, great hairy jumping freaking deities, man, you are
truly a marvel! I have never walked in your shoes, but I have worked
stage crew often enough in my past to recognize your professionalism
and your obvious ability to run an extraordinary stage anywhere,
anytime, with anyone, under any conditions. Not worthy! ;) Dreamers,
hear me! We were blessed to have this man manage the stage crew for
our Festival. Truly.

Erin and Kimchi, thank you for the time and talk and fun shared in the
morning shade.

Contentment and Fun and King Cheese, you have no idea how my heart
sang when I was near you. Thank you.

The Co-creating Relationships workshop couple and my fellow
workshoppers, thank you for sharing the dreamtime.

The co-creating colorful hula hoops couple from Boulder, thank you for
your patience in explaining the Nature of Hula Hoops to me…and thank
you for your kind encouragement in the time before the Erotic Kissing
workshop. Someone could have shown up, after all, since this was the
Dreamtime of Uncountable Infinite Possibilities. And Destin, one of
the Erotic Kissing workshop leaders, thank you for taking the time to
give me your kind words as partner less, I left your workshop space
right before you started. The selflessness you must have that enabled
you to take the time to reach out to another when by all right your
concerns should lie with starting your workshop…I acknowledge that you
are an extraordinary human being.

I encountered a woman outside the Erotic Kissing workshop tent, and
took a chance by asking her if she would like to be my partner for
this workshop. You lovely Lady, you smiled and gently told me you were
on your way to another workshop. I ask whatever deities you hold dear
to please reward your gentle kindness a thousandfold.

All of the breathtaking heartstopping colorful lovely smiling peoples
I encountered whilst wandering about, thank you. You made it easy to
ignore the dust and the heat and made the hills a little less steep.

And more, and more, and more. Thank you all, Dreamers. Next year, then.

Mama Kat, I missed you.

Henry Red Cloud wanted me to say Thank You!!... to all the Dreamers we were able to meet and learn from this Dreamtime. Henry ended up doing five sweat lodges bringing more than 110 of our Dreamtime family into the sacred sweat lodge. I hope all those that attended had a deep and profound cleansing and transformation.

If you have anything to pass on to him or others about the sweat lodges and his sharing... post it here and I will pass them on to Henry at Pine Ridge. We will be together again at the Kili Radio Station Wind Turbine Installation Party the end of the month.

Looking for other parents

Hi,
I'm looking for parents planning to bring younger kids (say 5-8 yr range) to this years Festival...or parents who've brought kids in the past. Since the Kids Camp advertised on the Dreamtime site is not happening, I'm trying to figure out how much of a kid-friendly event this will be and whether to attend with my 6 yr old daughter.

I know people will mostly be OK with kids being around, but is it going to a) offer enough to keep kids interested b) be manageable for parents...Will there be a place for kids to sleep at a reasonable time? Are there other families there?

I'm up in Paonia as part of the team, building yurts and preparing the land for the festival starting on the 17th.

This promises to be a remarkable, magical gathering and to make it happen, we're calling out to you, our high-vibration community, for volunteers to come out and build with us.

In exchange for your precious time, energy and dreamtime vibes, we will provide your food while you set up (not during the event), ticket reimbursement at the completion of your shift (email for details), and the opportunity to participate in this evolutionary journey as one of the crew.

What we're looking for:

Pre-event: As soon as you can get here :)
10 beings to participate in building yurts, stages, and various other gathering places

Event time, to arrive on the 16th
(for training), or 17th.

General volunteers, plus specific postions for Placement (grounds control), and Rangers, who walk around the event, providing assistance with whatever comes up. These are not positions of authority, but rather an invitation to dream with us, bringing your personal vision and energy to share with us, your new Dreamtime family, from behind the scenes.

RV or Camper needed for the sound crew.

It would be great for us if you could locate a good size camper or RV with a kitchenette, shower, and toilet for our base camp. Is this possible? I'll pay a modest amount to rent it and get it there in advance, but I can't afford much more outsourcing, and this would mean the world to me and my crew. We'll provide an electric evaporative cooler and/or a window ac unit, food, drink, and bedding. This will allow us to stay on site the whole time and serve the festival better. Do you know anyone who would volunteer this vehicle or camper for the festival sound crew? I promise we'll all take care to keep it clean and neat. I just can't afford to drive another large gas guzzler up to Paonia, but we really need a base camp to chill in. Let me know what you think. Talk to you soon, and take care -Sound Crew

We need lots of decorations and costuming in a debauched Wonderland theme ... cards, croquet sets, and a giant plaster mushroom come to mind. A March Hare and Cheshire Cat would be nice-- and as many Alices as we can muster... Off with their heads!

–All day in the Mate Bar. In the spirit of the spontaneous,
spur-of-the-moment, serendipitous, salacious, spicy, sexy and surreal
the Mad Hatter Tea Party commences at precisely half past a quarter to
sunrise on Sunday. The Hatter and the March Hare are always having tea
because, when he tried to sing for the Queen of Hearts at a
celebration of hers, she sentenced him to death for "murdering the
time". He escaped decapitation, but since he comes to the conclusion
that time itself was indeed "murdered", he and the March Hare continue
to have tea as though the clock had truly stopped. His tea party is
characterized by switching places on the table at any given time,
making somewhat short, personal remarks, gestures of unconditional
love, asking unanswerable riddles and reciting nonsensical poetry,
also there are tantric moments of bliss, exchanging items of clothing,
massage, didgeridoo healing, free mate for anyone who can answer the
riddle: "Why is a raven like a writing desk?" and lots of spontaneous
music from the wondrous and talented musicians of Dreamtime. Joy
"Didgeridiva" is the presiding queen of the "Party" and all performers
must request her approval prior to using the stage.

There may be some special guest musicans arriving on Sunday.:)

Who will change the world and how much will it cost me?

Just over two weeks to the Dreamtime Festival and the clock is ticking.
But gas is expensive... it's hot... it's a long way to go...... right?
Well... kinda right.

No one ever said changing the world would be easy and there would be cheap gas along the way
I like it when it is HOT... and I can smell real people... REAL people who love themselves
Real people who are not hiding behind perfume and unwilling to mix it up and expose their essence to the greater tribe

And it IS a very long way to go... to change a planet... to revitalize a nation after 7 years of the Bush regime
The journey is difficult and long.... but all the more reason to meet and celebrate our strengths and our progress
To come together and dance and learn from each other and feast our eyes on each other's beauty and magnificvence

So come one... come all.... here the beat of the drum in your chest
Now lay down and put your ear to the ground
And know it is the same sound... calling you to the tribal fire... calling you to howl with the wolves in the night

Step up to the plate.... show your bravery and your willingness to be a leader.. to BE the difference you seek

placement: someone with spatial and logical skills where to direct people, cars and camping within a finite amount of flat land...
might require some finesse:)

generator/power guru- you will have da power

recycle lead- this is a new position. educate individuals about recycling... and let's see how this develops hopefully into a leave no trace team in the future

cook/chef/magical food maker- wholesome foods, and experience cooking for a big group of people

rangers: you are not the cops and not their mommas.. but a great attitude and willingness to be of service are key attributes for this position

gate/greeter: YOU are the face of dreamtime. imagine what you want to see when you first come through the gate... enthusiasm required with the ability to be guardian of the values that we hold dear

Stage/Production Managers
Back Stage and Stage Hand Lead- these people make it happen

EMT Lead and EMTs-

Security Lead- kind and firm

Kids Camp Lead- organize activities for our little dreamers, impart knowledge

Equipment Manager- logistics.. and if we need an easy up moved to bottomless flats, you would be the one to make it happen.

Radio and Equipment Lead- highly organized person who like keeping track of to whom equipment is issued.

Awake in the Dream

What if everything that was always wanted suddenly became true and real? What would be left to do with the gift that is life if all was fulfilled?

To Love and to Serve...

So what is Love? Love happens naturally when there is an internal recognition of spirit. Love is what arises as the most tender moments of life, when we are open and available. It is one of our greatest blessings love as humans to be able to experience love, and one of the greatest mistakes to think that love is something that can be possessed or that it is attached to a person, experience or object.

In the words of the sages of all times, love is the substance from which everything is composed. Wouldn't it be a miracle if the scientists of the world were able to look deep enough into matter to discover that beyond the atom, beyond the electron, there is an infinite ocean of love from which everything arises? (Buddha, Jesus, Ramana, Anandamayi Ma, Sivananda, Ramakrishna, Eckert Tolle, and so on…) Wouldn't it be a miracle if we could live permanently from that place of knowing that no matter what happens, we are all composed of the same essence?

What is it to Serve? Service is the recognition that existence is a mystery, but also an undeniable fact. What is it that causes the heart to beat, the sun to be warm, the flowers to bloom, the rain to fall, thoughts to form, inspiration to emerge? Its a mystery .... one with many names, yet unnamable and Real. Call it That.

Service is giving up the idea that we are the ones doing anything and recognize That as the ultimate doer. The fact that we can even think that we are doing is due to something beyond thinking. Its a dance, a pulse, from identification as our thoughts, bodies, experiences, into That, which is only recognizable because we return to identify with something outside of it.

One awakens from deep sleep and says “I had a deep sleep!” But to sleep everything is abandoned… from the deepest pain to the greatest joy, thoughts, memory, body, mind, spirit… but how is this known? In deep sleep something remains, something that has never left, never been created or destroyed…. That.

To let of everything as if in deep sleep and stay awake is to awaken in the dream.

Now, these are not my thoughts or words, they belong to... That, and have been shared for thousands of years... or longer.

Make space in life for life, abandon everything as if falling into deep sleep, but stay awake.

Walk to the store like this, make love like this, eat like this, create like this, feel pain like this, fight like this, live like this, die like this.

Ohm.

Santa Cruz to Paonia - Road trip? Fly in? To Grand Junction or DIA?

I'm coming in as part of the set up crew, around July 9th, or earlier.
(p.s. I'll also be fascilitating dream workshops & fire staff workshops, if my apps. were approved)

So now, I'm exploring the travel options;

Fly in to DIA and shuttle to Paonia? (yuck)

Road trip from Santa Cruz, all the way through - How long a drive is that? At $4 a gallon?

Dreamtime News and DT08 Dates

Greetings!

I have been watching the conversation here on tribe and waiting for an appropriate time to post. That time seems to be now.

I will start with grattitude - thank you all that are part of this amazing project and to those who care enough about it to show up here on tribe to share around it. And a special thanks to those who are now offering of themselves in support and help.

This recent proactive outpouring of offerings and energy to move forward constructively and collaboratively is very inspiring. You are who I want to work, play and share with.

And at this moment, I have a lot of exciting things to share.

Though things have had the appearance of being still on the surface for the last few months around Dreamtime, there has been a lot of activity behind the scenes.

Jen and I have NOT stopped working on Dreamtime over the last three months in order to put the foundational pieces in place to move forward with the 2008 event. As I explained and requested help with in the fall, we have been working on fundraising as well as addressing the larger picture around making DT financially sustainable. This led us to look at moving the event to another beautiful location that is less harsh environmentally, closer to urban centers, more likely to appeal to enough people in order for us to meet the minimum number of participants (significanly more than present numbers) that would be required to sustain the event based on ticket sales. This also ties in to our desire to include a wider range of people in what we are creating together (not only to preach to the choir as it were) - but more on that later. This site search has been no easy task, and we took the time to explore, interview and survey many beautiful sites on the front range and around the state. The exciting results have been that due to time constraints around this years event, we plan to release dates and an over-the-top-amazing new location for DT09 before the ´08 event - just as soon as we have the permitting and contracts completed.

We have also been working on some clarification and better articulation of the Dreamtime vision in order to better guide us and create more unity and clarity as we move forward together with this project. I will be sharing some of the results here, and we will also be launching a Dreamtime newsletter shortly to help maintain cosistent communication and we will be including more clarity there as well.

Our fundraising efforts still need significant help, so please step forward if you can help us with grant writing, solicitng donors, benifit events, making a donation, or otherwise.

I want to be clear that we have remained committed in service to Dreamtime continuing despite the difficulty of the financial situation in ´07. We are fully committed supporting and acting as guardians in order for Dreamtime to thrive and continue to share its gifts with the community, participants and the world. Jen and I have been through a lot since the 07 event - we have been working at least part time on Dreamtime since the event without stop, have had a lot of recovery to go through in our lives personally, physically and emotionally and financially, and around the future of the event have each shed tears on multiple occaisons, had to surrender, and in the end remained unwaiveringly comitted to and in service to the larger Dreamtime vison.

To share just a bit personally, I have also been continuing in earnest work on the ecovillage project, taking some very needed recovery time physically and emotionally, and taking care of my personal financial situation after 9 months of neglect while focusing on DT07. It has been a journey both beautiful and challenging. The last year has, of course, been an incredible learning experience, and incredibly challenging beyond anything I have previously known - which is significant considering my constant pursuit of learning and growth throughout my life. With such a journey, the support, kind words, understanding and wisdom that has appeared here on tribe this week have been doubly appreciated.

As I have posted previously, I remain in constant contact and available to diologue directly with anyone that has questions or concerns. I will respond to questions posted here as well that are genuine and direct questions free from assumptions, rumor or politicking. I have yet to be contacted directly by anyone with concerns or questions other than what the DT08 dates will be. And, as far as that goes...

Much of our focus over the past months has of course been on the critical pieces of the dates and location for DT08. We will be alerting the mailing list tomorrow, but you heard it here first - DT08 WILL BE HELD IN PAONIA JULY 17-20 (THURS-SUN). Tickets will be on sale before the end of the week, and the first tier is sure to sell out immediately, so be sure to check back regularly and to get on the mailing list (top of the dreamthefuture.org website) in order to get news when tickets are on sale.
